without reading minds you can tell sometimes what people are thinking. from their eyes or body languages. maybe you gave him a sign that told him what you were thinking.

you maybe werent looking at tinman but that doesnt mean he wasnt looking at you. and second there still is body languages. something nobody really controls. it's just something that happens.
