seems like the Group E will be interesting after all. if usa beats italy that would be awesome.
The bad thing is that now im sure Brazil will get to the quarter finals easily
Some decent strikers and Portugal might have lost.
Well, that would be unlikely, imo. but i've seen stranger things occur.
And mexico is better as a team, idd. but i think that iran has a greater potential than mexico.
EDIT: yah, kewangji didnt even noticed it wasnt working lol. thx for pointing it out

Wow, the USA Italy game was just pitiful to watch. The quality of football wasn't that good, and the reffing was awful. You're right though, group E is going to be interesting, anyone is in it right now. It's pretty much a win and you're in situation, except for the U.S., who need to win and not have a draw in the other match, or win by 4 goals or more. (not happening)

Bizarre game.10 against 9, who'd a thunk it. The USA showed a lot more heart than against the Czechs (completely gutless in that match).

USA did well this time, Italy did much worse than what they did against Ghana, it seems that the first and second matches in this group dont really make sense together, only Ghana performing at the same level apparently.
Italy is probably in their very unique mentality thinking well since we will pass if we draw the last two games let's just do it.

lacking ambition this Italy, probably will have a fate like in 2002 or 2004 playing like this.
at least it will probably be the only group worth watching in the last round
And, tbh, i dont think that Italy vs USA can even de classified as a football match. Pitiful to watch indeed.

did mcbride really touch that ball?..

i don't think he did, but...
A player in an offside position is only penalised if, at the moment the ball touches or is played by one of his team, he is, in the opinion of the referee, involved in active play by:
* interfering with play or
* interfering with an opponent or
* gaining an advantage by being in that position.
in that position, he influences the keeper's sight of the incoming shot, thus interfering with his action.
I think it was a good decision, seen many like those before
in most controversial incidents i think the referee did well, he was a bit harsh (we have to understand this guy is used to very hot games in south america, and it's not easy to be soft there), but at least he didn't have a different criteria for each team. There were some bad offside decisions though.
It is a pity that three players got sent off, but I can't really blame the ref for that.

I think the first and third red cards were legit, but the second one wasn't a particularly dirty move, just a late tackle. That play, (the goal disallowed) was fine, but they didn't call a hand ball by the Italians inside their own goalie box, which could have let to a goal.
